Curridabat, como muchos otros lugares, ha cambiado a lo largo de los años, pero en sus calles, en su gente, en sus rincones, siguen vivos los recuerdos de una época más tranquila, una época que permanece en el corazón de quienes lo vieron crecer.

Los Primeros Años: Un Pueblo Pequeño y Acogedor

Antes de convertirse en el dinámico cantón que es hoy, Curridabat era un pequeño pueblo rural. Los días eran largos y tranquilos, con la gente cruzando las calles a pie, con una taza de café en mano, saludándose con la familiaridad que solo se da en los pueblos pequeños.

Las casas de campo, rodeadas de verdes jardines y huertos, eran el centro de muchas familias que vivían en paz y armonía con la naturaleza. Recuerdo cómo, a menudo, los niños corrían por los cafetales, jugando libremente sin las preocupaciones que hoy traen las grandes ciudades. Los sonidos del agua de los ríos cercanos y el canto de los pájaros eran la música que acompañaba a los residentes en su día a día.

Los negocios de Curridabat: Un Encuentro de Sabores y Colores

Si bien no existía un mercado como tal, Curridabat siempre tuvo una gran variedad de lugares donde disfrutar de una comida. En cada esquina, pequeños restaurantes, bares y comedores se encargaban de ofrecer los sabores típicos de la zona. Las sodas tradicionales eran un punto de encuentro para compartir un buen plato de gallo pinto, sopa de mondongo o carne en salsa. Estos lugares no solo alimentaban el cuerpo, sino que también alimentaban el alma, siendo el espacio perfecto para reunirse con amigos y familiares.

Recuerdo las charlas largas, acompañadas de café o jugos naturales, mientras se disfrutaba de la calidez de un hogar hecho restaurante. Cada lugar de comida tenía su propia esencia, y no era raro que la gente se saludara entre sí, como si todo el pueblo fuera una gran familia.

El Crecimiento: Entre Nostalgia y Modernidad

A medida que el tiempo pasó y el crecimiento llegó, Curridabat comenzó a transformarse. Las primeras construcciones modernas, los centros comerciales, las nuevas calles asfaltadas comenzaron a reemplazar a los antiguos caminos de tierra. Sin embargo, en el proceso de cambio, algo importante no se perdió: la esencia de su gente.

Aunque el paisaje ha cambiado, los recuerdos siguen siendo los mismos. Los más antiguos aún recuerdan las fiestas patronales de San Antonio, cuando el pueblo se reunía para celebrar con música, danzas y comida tradicional. Esas festividades, aunque ahora más grandes, siguen teniendo la misma calidez y el mismo espíritu comunitario.

Curridabat Hoy: Un Pueblo con Raíces Profundas

Hoy en día, Curridabat sigue creciendo, pero sus raíces siguen intactas. Los recuerdos de aquellos días en los que todo parecía más sencillo permanecen, como una huella imborrable en quienes lo vivieron. Y aunque las calles estén más llenas de autos y las casas más modernas, todavía se puede encontrar un rincón tranquilo donde respirar la paz que alguna vez definió a este cantón.

Curridabat, con su mezcla de nostalgia y futuro, sigue siendo un lugar especial, lleno de recuerdos y esperanzas. Un lugar que nunca deja de transformarse, pero que siempre guarda en su memoria colectiva lo que fue y lo que aún es.
